Aquarium Hauptansicht von Mittelamerika / Aquascape
Description of the aquarium:
Category:
Central America
Tank size:
170x55x50 = 467 liters ~ 123 gallons (us)
Specific features:
In my new pool I have tried to combine a mix of Central America biotope with the optical characteristics of an Aquascape basin.

The basin comes from Aquarium Wilhelmi (am very satisfied) and was bonded transparent. At the rear window of the basin a frosted glass sheet was stuck, so that it is evenly illuminated. To this end, in addition is an LED strip that sticks to the screen printing plate behind the pool.
In order to have the appearance of an open basin, without that it is actually open, it is covered by 3mm thin, transparent polycarbonate sheets. The central web has been fitted to this end is flush with the upper edge of the side windows. Another special feature: The pool is for structural reasons on black, unprinted beverage crates and a screen printing plate, since this construction is much lighter than Ytong. To this end, the course more.

Aquarium decoration:
Gravel:
As substrate I have chosen for a sand with a grain size 0,7-1,2mm.
The color is according to Online Shop "natural white." - Real, this means that he is indeed significantly whiter than the usual silica sand / game sand from the hardware store, but not bright white, which was very important to me. There are plenty of black, yellow and red portions it. So in my opinion, gives to a bright, natural image. Manufacturer I do not know unfortunately. Used were 50kg.
Plants:
Since I wanted to represent a biotope Central America (Mexico) with the project, plants are virtually non-existent since these rivers are rather rocky. Still, I did not want to completely give up green. Drin I:

two large Anubias
two Anubias nana
a small Javafarn

The plants I took over from my previous basin, they go well with the bass, because they do not address this.
Special features of the facility:
To get a mexinanischen river Nahe, I have used a lot of big, medium and small river pebbles.
The central space of the tank should be free as a swimming area. In the left and right of two large piles were constructed. Here it was important to me that the stones are getting smaller, the closer it comes to the middle of the pelvis. Centrally only small stones are then placed on the rear wall. The whole is rounded off by Moorkien- and mangrove roots, which are aligned to the surface.
Aquarium equipment:
Lighting:
Home lighting:
Eheim powerLED 43W plants
The Eheim LED fits my requirements with approximately 10,000 K + additional red / blue components. Previously, I had the new Fluval LED Aqua Life & Plant, however, was clear yellow to me. The Eheim is about 135cm long, and lies directly on the polycarbonate sheets. The light is beautiful white without being cold. The colors of the fish are beautiful support. Unfortunately, I also have some algae growth, but I do not know if it is due to the LED. Lighting time: 12-23 Clock

In addition to lighting:
Behind the aquarium LED Strip glued with color cool white, thus matching the Eheim. It was cut to the pool length and serves as backlighting, such as as an intermediate for Eheim.
The effect, in the evening after the Eheim emanates, is wonderful. The transparent silicone disc edges light up really nice.
Light time: 11:30 - 23:30 clock
Filtration:
Filtered is currently still with a JBL Cristal Profi 1501 Green Line.
Filter volume: 12 liters
Filter performance: 1400L / h
Power consumption: 20W

I had the filter already one year to run on my 300 gallon tank and am very satisfied. I have it connected directly to the new basin, in order to shorten the running-in, or omit. Since then, I measure course daily nitrite etc.

The plan is another JBL 1501 coming in May.

Further information:
Since I live in an old building with wooden beams, I had me some thoughts on the weight distribution and a lightweight foundation make.
I have here selected a total of 22 drinks crates, which are covered by a screen printing plate. The base was thus enlarged to 200x70cm. The base weighs next to nothing, and was also very low.
