Get inspired to create your own beautiful tank(s)
Neues Hauptbild vom 23.08.2013
Description of the aquarium:
South America
Tank size:
255 x 250 x 78 (B) x 75 cm (H), L-Form m. Schräge = 2532 liters ~ 668 gallons (us)
Specific features:
It is virtually an "optical Refresh" my last tank setups "Hills of Rio Negro Deadwood" to create with the aim a well-functioning and closely oriented to nature blackwater biotope. Since the changes are but part but turned out very serious, I myself decided to pack it in this own EB-side.

Click here for my blog: The rebuilding my aquarium to "Reborn From The Ashes "

With few handles, such as (Increase) test feeding, regular water, clean filter random, or suck something Mulm time, this is a fully automatic aquarium to keep maintenance costs as low as possible.

The "technical" features:

Light simulation: The RGB-LED lighting is controlled here in 2 zones, one from the left side up to the middle and then time offset from the center into the right side. This has the effect that the Sunrise & sinking travels through the pelvis. It's the same in the cloud simulation, these hiking time moves from left to right. A Monphasensimulation for calendar and 3 rainy days with thunderstorms and "real" rain over the lunchtime round off the whole thing.

Flow / wave simulation: The two pumps my pressure filter drive constantly in sine waves between 75 and 100% (Filter 2: 50 & 75%), this was achieved through the GHL Powerbar2Dim. The wave duration fluctuates between 10s and 15s and also will be reduced by accident by 15%. To top it to support something even 2 powerheads were also installed.

Rain Simulation: During the storm on the rainy days come with a rain simulation with this, which then gives the appearance it rains on the water surface, this also has the advantage that is removed the annoying comb skin which oxygen exchange much easier and also still additionally oxygen. the pool brings.

. Automatic water change / water refill: Changing the backwater happening currently 1 times a week (Sundays from 19: 00h). There are thereby fed about 400-450l fresh water and because it automatically takes the fish practically not disturbed, so that even at this no stress arises. It will be changed directly by osmosis in the aquarium inside and then automatically "be salted" if necessary. Also happens that replacing evaporated water by itself.

Monitoring the water parameters: The most important water parameters such as temperature, pH, redox potential (bioburden) and conductance (water hardness / salinity) are monitored by the aquarium computer, the temperature and the conductivity as needed automatically readjusted. To check this is an ext. LCD display, well visible mounted above the aquarium, which outputs all the information it should but then again will be a problem, a visual warning signal to the aquarium computer and the View II issued.

The heating of the aquarium: The heat supply to the aquarium via a plate heat exchanger made of stainless steel, connected to the gas central heating of the house, this is since the middle of 2012. In addition, even solar-assisted. Is controlled the whole of the temperature sensor of the aquarium computer and an electro-thermal actuator (LD, 2-point, 230), which then controls the heating valve. The heat exchanger is switched on the water cycle of Filterkeis 1 in a bypass, the heat exchanger itself is operated in the so-called. Countercurrent principle, since the heat yield is much better here. Should the gas central heating but turn times, the entire pool can also be heated over a elektischen 1KW pond heater.

Aquarium decoration:
Almost the entire ground comes this time from the company Jens Rosnerski, it involves aquarium gravel and sand in the color dark / reddish. The gravel is washed and sanitized and can be filled directly into the basin. The gravel was washed again but in the aquarium from me before introduction in order to avoid turbidity.

120 Kg aquarium gravel from 0.1 to 0.9 mm, 4x 25Kg aquarium sand / -kies, dark / reddish & 2 x 10 Kg Flamingo river sand, beige, who were left from the old setup.

25 Kg aquarium gravel 2-4 mm, 1 x 25 Kg aquarium gravel, dark / reddish

5 Kg aquarium gravel 5-8 mm, 1 x 25 Kg aquarium gravel, dark / reddish, of which, however, only about 5 Kg were needed.

The 2-4mm gravel was mixed with the fine (river) sand in the ratio 1: 5, behind the back wall of 5-8mm gravel was loosely scattered on the river sand to create a more natural impression in front of the rear wall. The whole ground is interspersed with many smaller pieces of roots.

Under the sand no protection mat this time introduced since all stones are artificially and also stuck in the aquarium. The sand is enough for a layer of approximately 2-3 cm, in some places it has been but piled higher.

The floating plants come on recommendation by Heiko Bleher (via Facebook) again with pure, he says it more in line with nature.

Experiment: From Pentecost Sunday, 2013 I had again some varieties of floating plants introduced (from a friend, with excess) tentatively in the not yet converted Aquarium. My Scheibensalmler nibble now and then it, except by the mussel flowers that you do not like seemingly. ;-))

Conclusion of this experiment: The Scheibensalmler have about 14 days needed the introduced floating plants to plastering, so I'll soon ever again have to bring in new floating plants, which should be no problem because the acquaintances always has a surplus that would otherwise go into the compost bin ,

2x Aqua LED RGB Light Styl, 1400 mm (standard size), with water cooling,
the lamps are equipped with warm white LEDs each with 2 rows and 1 row of RGB, consumption: around 34 W per depending .ca. 3900 lumens corresponds to 110 lumens / W.

These lamps are specified by the manufacturer LUM Light with 3900 Lumen, despite your two series with warm white LEDs. Also here only warm white stripes with 60 LEDs per meter were used, but in 3-chip technology, which means instead of 1 LED light equal to 3 pieces here, with the same power consumption. This corresponds with this lamp already about 110 lumens / W.

For more information see also my blog:

1x Aqua LED RGB Light Styl, 825mm (standard dimension), with water cooling,
these LED lamps are equipped with 2 rows of warm white LEDs and 1 row of RGB, consumption: 20W, this lamp is specified by the manufacturer with 1,800 lumens (lm), which corresponds to 90 lm / W. You do not have the old 120 LED / m placement.

These short lamp illuminates the center of the basin and is temporally associated with the left.

The lighting was purchased at www.a4nager.de.

1x Meanwell PSU 12V / 10A (120W)

To drive the here the new GHL LEDControl4 V2 used. Controlled the whole of my Giesemann G-Tron Professional aquarium computer (Identical to GHL ProfiLux II Plus incl. ORP / Leitwertplatine). Lighting scenarios are adapted to the nature, incl. Cloud simulation, and rainy days with thunderstorm simulation and rain above the water surface. The night light is dimmed down to fit on lunar phases. The still in Hills of Rio Negro deadwood very colorful Lum-Light daily routine will be designed even realistic.

Specifications LEDControl4 V2:

Filter 1:

1x Velda Clear Control 50, without UV-C (for ponds up to 20,000 liters)

1x Velda UV-C Unit 9 Wat, for installation in the Clear Control pressure filter

1x Messner eco-Tec2 7500

The Clear Control 50 pressure filter has a net filter volume of 50 l.
The Clear Control pressure filter having a switch for 6 functions, it can be set so that the following options:

Position 1, Filterspülstand: wash away the dirt under the grate
Position 2, Kopfspülstand: wash away the dirt in the head
Position 3, idle state: (the pond) to pump empty to the aquarium
Position 4, filter life: the water runs through the filter material and back into the aquarium (the pond)
5 position, medicine Stand: to filter materials by the water flows back into the aquarium (the pond).
6 position, lock status: this allows the filter no water by the cleaning of the pump.

Filter 2:

1x Velda Clear Control 50, Model 2012 without UV-C (for ponds up to 20,000 liters)

1x Messner eco-Tec2 10000

The Model 2012, even a position 7, Winter: The filter is vented through the winter.

The filter can additionally with an electrical heating element (150 or 300 watts)
and a UV-C Unit of 9, 18 or 36 watts to be retrofitted. For me, only the filter 1 is equipped with a 9W UV-C.

All filter materials such as Japan mat, charcoal and lava (for settlement of filter bacteria) complete package included.

Filter 2 has currently have stock speakers of Velda, only comes in 1 filter mat and the Japan Lavabruch used, the coal was replaced against Floragard Floratorf.

Additionally blue filter sponges the size PP20 and PP10 were introduced in both print filters.

When UV-C unit comes with me in the filter 1 Velda UV-C Unit 9 watts for use. These UV-C unit can be installed in the Velda Cross-flow biofilter, the pressure filter Clear Control and the mini-pressure filter. The advantage is that all algae are killed and pathogens before the water is passed through the filter materials. Of course, the UV light is not with the filter materials in contact.

As pumps come with me the Messner eco-Tec2 pump to use. This can also be operated outside the water, both in when. The Messner eco-Tec2 7500 has a capacity of 7300L / h on water level (from surface), the eco-Tec2 10000 has an output of approx 11000l / h. As the eco-Tec 10000 2 but probably a little too much water throughput for the Velda Clear Control 50 (suitable for pumps up to 8000l / h), it was now about the GHL Powerbar2Dim on max. 75% limited Durchluss, which of course also at the same time has a power save-result.

The pumps have a vortex impeller, which enables a large water yield and the transport of soil particles up to 8mm. The 7500 model has a power consumption of only "75W", the eco-Tec2 10000 requires unfortunately a little more, namely ca.110W, which is quite low for pumps of this capacity. The 7500 is pumping up to 4.00m above the actual water level, the 10000 creates tremendous 5,40m. The pumps also have a built-in thermal switch switches off the pump if it overheats, it automatically jumps back on when the pumps have cooled. The advantage of these pumps is the high capacity, combined with low power consumption and very quiet, they are also, as this is to asynchronous motors. By using these engines, it is also possible to use these pumps to "dim", ie the water flow could also be electronically limited.

Both Messner pumps before the pressure filters are with me on the Aquarienkomputer and a socket GHL Powerbar2Dim (connected to the 1-10V interface L5 & L6 of GHL eX expansion board) from time to time automatically controlled in its rotational speed, which I can create changing flow conditions, as in nature also.

Oventrops electrothermal actuators are used in the trades heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The actuators are normally used for room temperature control, such. As with conventional radiators, in combination with 2-point room thermostat. In my case it is driven at the time directly via the Hydor Hydroset. When the actuator is de-energized, eg the temperature has been reached in the aquarium, the actuator, the heating valve via a return spring closes automatically. Should the power fail at what is hopefully not the case, the heating valve closes well and overheating of the water is not possible.
