Aquarium decoration:
50 kg play sand 0-2 mm
The sand is unfortunately very badly even though I have respected it when buying, he saw no light, as long as no water in Aq. was. But the light dimmed down really, believe it goes, although darker sand would be better.
no plants
Special features of the facility:
-3D Back wall is placed in the pelvis in three places completely hinterschwimmbar. The back panel is slightly tilted forward, so the visual effect of an overhang, not seen in the photos is created.
-ca. 140 kg red Bundsandstein, from our beautiful native forest, as I believe, produce the hole rocks and slates not so nice effect, the pool looks mostly artificial and also conjure simple natural stones add a touch of nature into the pool
I made a wooden frame -as cover, bolted with wood slats as original glass and serve as cover plates 8 mm glass sheets from my old Aqarium
Pedestal from Yton-stones on a 200x60 cm the plywood board were arranged for better pressure distribution, on a 2 cm wood panel on the 2 cm styrofoam plates
(2x 100x50 cm) were glued to compensate for irregularities

Malawi über Wasser (von mir 2008 für mein damals viel kleineres Becken gemalt)
Aquarium equipment:
at the moment a 30 watt fluorescent tube (190 cm) darkened with aluminum foil, but is replaced by a T5 suspended luminaire
the lighting is possible reflect the natural light spectrum, which would meet the fish even in freedom, so get blue, green and yellow colors used very little, but this is not brought in the pictures really, really expressed
Light time 12 hrs. (10-22 clock)
the tube is thin coated with blue, green and yellow acrylic paint, darkened with aluminum foil and at both ends it is lit about 10 cm white, so even a small bissel light comes in the corners

am now really the superior with the hanging lamp, I like it as it is quite good, but still want to LEDs for a moonlight illumination.

further 3 LED spotlights come at the moment are used, they produce water Squiggle effects, but are too weak to illuminate the basin alone

The Protomelas are no longer in the pool.

I have to Nim. Fusco. from a 200-liter tank with over 1m edge length. Although my pelvis is too small, but he has here at least 2 m edge length for swimming and with a size of 12-13 cm at the moment that would be acceptable. But would it sooner or later give when I have a suitable pool found.

Assuming a minimum water volume of 15 liters per fish, I have a required volume of 345 l. My estimated net volume is 420 liters, therefore this stocking density should move in the green.
- Protomelas sp. steveni Taiwan "Taiwan Reef" 1/1

Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" lives in the deeper regions of the sediment-rich rocky biotope. Just balzaktive males depend on stones and rock plateau, which they defend more or less energetic than spawning ground. The habitats of the three known populations are in about 20 meters of water.

Males: females 16cm: 13cm

The Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" is one of the nursery eaters, while also living between the nursery diatoms and microorganisms are taken greedy. The crude proteins as recorded do in this kind of a significant proportion of the diet, which raises the question regarding socialization simplistic.

Territorial males occupy your spawning and feeding place on rocks or rocky plateau, almost without interruption, while not dominant bucks and females draw in groups through Habitat - always looking for food. The spawning grounds of different males are separated at intervals of not less than 2 meters - so comparatively far. Normally, breeding females hide among the rocks.
The species is not just a very assertive.

From 400l. For the attitude in the aquarium itself rocky basin designed recommend with little sand. Many larger and smaller rocks and single flat stone plateaus should dominate the ground. The bodies should take but only the bottom third of the aquarium to complete, so that remains free at the top of a lot of free swimming space. Due to the extremely low intraspecific aggression, several bucks in the same aquarium can be kept without any problems, as long as the Trail and space zulasssen this.

- Sciaenochromis fryeri

Sciaenochromis fryeri is seeweit spread and is found wherever the habitats of rocks, boulders and thus also characterized by caves. The species lives (if necessary) retired in caves and leaves it mostly just to chase after young Mbunas and utaka. In the south have our animals on a distinctive white forehead paleness while this is largely absent in the north. Especially in the region around Maleri Iceland an especially intense forehead pallor could be observed.

Males: females 17cm: 12cm

We distinguish two types of predators in Lake Malawi: on the one hand those who mainly eat invertebrates and on the other hand fish eaters like our S .. fryeri.
Preferably, the Fryeris among the rocks chase after young Mbunas and proven even young utaka. In the aquarium the way but for undemanding omnivore with a preference for something richer protein diet.

The reproductive males occupy caves, which they share outside the mating act without any problems with other animals, but while vigorously defend against any kind of intrusion. Sciaenochromis fryeri is familiar nesting places and releases its "personal" cave in again only if it is either driven by a stronger animal, or dries up the source of food in the immediate vicinity. Pairing willing bucks shoveling large amounts of sand from their sockets [...]

Further information:
I have tried to make a rock-sand transition zone where I possible all kinds replicating their natural habitat, as well as possible. In the middle of the basin, a large sand area for Lethrinops u. Protomelas and right and left of rocky areas with caves and columns for the Yellows and the Sciaenochromis fryeri.

Now the pool has yet changed a bit, on the one hand by stocking and also in terms of Gestalltung. Due to the new backplane logically anyway. Tried to make a rock and sand landscape, thus creating sufficient grounds to avoid greater confrontations. Since the rear wall is completely behind swim, so another refuge for animals that underlies it is created. It was also made sure caves and crevices for SC. Fryeri and Labidochromis Yellow create, since they are more or less to be found in nature in the rock habitat.

Have after long Überlegunden, exchanges of views and telephone conversations with Flo and Marco O. decided to pack wood in a Malawi Basin. It is here to beech. Since these bears no tannic acid in itself, should the asserwerte actually remain stable, will watch it and report.
What we want to break old fixed opinions and to break new ground. I think, the wood in Malawi tank still look natural and would also like the more and more becoming the equalization basin with rock Zolid and Suna Eco counteract.
