Get inspired to create your own beautiful tank(s)
Description of the aquarium:
Lake Tanganyika
Tank size:
150 x 50 x 60 = 450 liters ~ 118 gallons (us)
Specific features:
Designed tanks as naturally as possible with themselves modeled rear wall

Rear wall consists of 4 modules (50 + 50 + 20 + 10 cm)

The starting point is styrofoam plates with 16 cm depth, from which were created by carpet knife, soldering iron and Dremel contours with depth effect

All visible surfaces of the modules have been dabbed with tile adhesive and the adhesive in the same direction superficially drawn (rock layers imitation).

It was then worked with pure Abtönfarbe in black, gray, brown and ocher. Since the colors were mixed wild and rough, created such a beautiful course and a natural surface

Just by the later growth of algae there are between one's own back wall with darker tones and the basalt stones used barely perceptible color differences.

The estimated actual tank volume should be about 300-320l so that the free floats (Paracyprichromis) remains enough space.
Rio 400
Aquarium decoration:
70% quartz sand (0.2 - 0.5 mm)
30% basalt chippings (0.2 to 2 mm)

Ground rises of about 4 cm on 7-10, so that the Occelatus can dig the Schneckenhäuser deep enough.

In addition, can be chosen in the range of Cairn depending on the preference of the cave fish size free and designed
1 Cryptocoryne wendtii
2 Anubia congensis
1 Microsorium Pteropus "Windelov"
3 Vallisneria gigantea
Javafarn `Windelov`
Special features of the facility:
3 shell heap

approx 70 kg basalt rock from the middle of the basin first slightly, then rising sharply
Aquarium equipment:
The original jewel T8 light bar was removed after the purchase of the pelvis and replaced by a dimmable Bresslein T5 light bars in 54W.

The highlight bar is equipped with a light tube einflammig Osram 865th In addition is still a reflector on the tube to also make good use of the light and to steer in the right direction. In addition, may be withdrawn by the additional light of the reflector luminosity.

The maximum luminous intensity is limited by Vario Lux-dimming to 60%.

The day starts at 13:00 with the Aufdimmphase until 14:00 on 60%. Between 15:00 and 17:30 is gradually dimmed down to 40% before the evening goes up again to 60%.

The evening will conclude 21.00h to 22.00h with the of gradual darkening, which from 21:55 to 00:00 an LED moonlight is switched with 3W.

In addition, the Vario-Lux is programmed to randomly dial daily rain and storm clouds are simulated in which the dimming is reduced to 20-40%, and the length is interpreted in different ways.

Interesting to note is that the Synodontis active ransack the small twilight stages the basin for usable food residues.

Since all transitions are flowing and we also attach great importance to the fact that we never see the light in the room easy on and off, the animals never find shocking moments and are thus significantly less scary !!!
Eck-HMF with a radius of 20cm and a pumping capacity of about 600 l / h

20 and black colored filter mat in PPI, so this stands out visually is not directly

Outlet is guided by PVC piping above the water surface on the opposite side of the pelvis and above the mat, so that a constant water cycle is given

Water change will always (!) Each. 2 Sunday with 50% tap water.
Other equipment:
Hydor Koralia 1 (1500L / h) below the pump outlet, so that the filtered water is distributed over the very soft beam of Koralia evenly in the pool
