Description of the aquarium:
Category:
Salt water
Tank size:
80 cm x 35 cm x 40 cm = 112 liters ~ 29 gallons (us)
Specific features:
The idea of building this marine aquarium was to keep the costs as low as possible. For this reason, LED lighting and a Jaubert filter was installed.
Aquarium decoration:
Gravel:
30 kg coral sand
Special features of the facility:
In a Jaubert aquarium is a larger amount of (live) Rock unnecessary. A large area of ground cover ground with stones should be avoided in order to enable an optimal circulation of water due to diffusion in the coral sand. Furthermore, the very processes of nitrification and denitrification take place within the bottom ground, can be so that almost dispense with the use of live rock. Therefore, initially only little live rock is planned to vaccinate. If it should prove necessary, I will use additional live rock.
Aquarium equipment:
Lighting:
LED: the 500 SunaECO lighting with 2 x 12 W, however, has high acquisition at very economical, since they have a low energy consumption per lumen light output and a long service life. Furthermore must compared to T5 and HQI not be replaced regularly the bulbs.
Filtration:
Jaubert: there are only 30 kilogram, coral sand and a 2 cm high Plenum required. The plenary session was made of a PVC mesh and a flyscreen with fiberglass. Electricity costs by a skimmer not incurred because both nitrification and denitrification take place in the ground. If necessary, a phosphate absorber is used. If the Jaubert-filter should prove unstable or not sufficient, I will install a properly sized skimmer.
Other equipment:
Flow: the efficient Tunze Turbelle Nano Stream 6045 has a power consumption of between 5 W and 7 W at a water circulation of 1,500 l / h to 4500 l / h. The name stands for quality and reliability Tunze.

Water treatment: a demineralizer is cheap to buy, and the ratio of water / wastewater amount is significantly better than that of a reverse osmosis plant.

Heating: heating element with an output of 100 W. is still a bimetallic temperature sensor in use at the moment. This, however, is when animals have moved, replaced by an electronic heating element, because it can not "stick".
Stocking:
A selection has not been done, however, the following types are under discussion (the aquarium is of course too small to use all species listed):
