Aquarium equipment:
Lighting:
1 fluorescent tube T8, 58 watts (OSRAM LUMILUX DE LUXE, light color 965 with particularly good color rendering), partially wrapped in aluminum foil to more light - to obtain and shadow zones.
Filtration:
1 Aqua - Nova Außenfilter NCF 2000 capacity max. 2000 l / h, delivery head max. 2.4 m, container volume 25 liters (UV - C clarifiers downstream)

1 Fluval FX 6 External Filter

Filter Material: clay tubes, Siporax, filter wadding, foam

Note: With the Aqua - Nova - Filter i will start an "exotic" (and especially low-cost) test brand beyond the established manufacturers Eheim, JBL, etc. Fluval. The size and performance data (except electric power, 30 W to 50 W, unfortunately :-() are virtually identical with the Eheim 2080th
According to previously 18 months term I'm very pleased with the Aqua - Nova - filter, especially the unexpectedly low "operation - Volume" is very positive.

The Fluval FX 6 is impressive from the filter performance ago, but put the serving as pre-filter, superimposed on the outer edges all round, vertical foam filter quite quickly, so that the water flow after about 6 weeks felt less and by not later than 8 weeks cleaning is required. For a filter of this size, this is a reason for a rather negative review because one should assume that in such a large filter volume a longer service life of at least 3 - 4 months is given. Perhaps the nature of the filter material in the form of foam at the outer edges and the wrong choice. While it is recommended Fluval so, but perhaps a fitting example with ceramic tube is the better choice. Ceramic tube set according to experience, especially used as pre-filter, not so fast. Anyway, I'll replace it if the soon imminent cleaning the foam parts, at least in the first two chambers against ceramic tubes and report whether this measure has a positive effect.
Currently: the use of ceramic tubes (in Filtermedienbeutel) in the outer chambers of the lower filter baskets seems really positive effect on the service life, subjectively appears in any case the flow by now 6 weeks to be unchanged.

Very popular with Myleus and the hero is spinach, which it is frozen by "Edeka" in pellet-like compressed parts. These pieces I give frozen into the pool, they thaw out fast and be picked quickly dispersed by the fish

Further information:
The pool size is for stingrays in principle too small, but since I have completed many years a "deal" with the Aquaristikhändler "my Vetrauens", which I can exchange my skates from a disc diameter of 30 cm against each smaller specimens, the issue is secondary ,

The maintenance requirements for the aquarium is small. Once a week, a 50% water change, from time to free the windscreen of algae as well as the two outer filter in 12 - Clean-week alternating coarse, that's all.
The L -Welse but also Nachtsalmler as typical representatives of the nursery-eater, keep clean the interior, algae growth on the roots and the BTN - backplane modules remains within manageable limits. The Rays ensures by the constant "blow through" of ground elements that the sand remains loosened always and thus can not form rot zones.
The high density of bacteria in the filter 2 and the statements made by the Dekowurzeln Tanning -and- humic acids keep the aquarium - water always in the slightly acidic range.

Totally overrated however in my opinion, the nitrate content. Even with nitrate peaks of 80 mg or more over a period of several days to show my animals no signs of discomfort. Also an increased algae growth is at average levels of 40 - not determine 50 mg / l in my aquarium. Certainly plays a relatively high nitrate level in the rearing a negative role in the caging of adult animals, but a sense of serenity is attached.

The used of me 5er - Group Myleus schomburgkii - Scheibensalmler should gem. relevant literature in the natural sizes reach up to 40 cm, in the aquarium hobby - but caging are after thorough research and consultation with other holders max - sizes from 25 -30 cm rule.

The same applies to the Nachtsalmler which, however, achieve in nature lengths of up to 4o cm, in the aquarium max- average lengths of 25 cm.
If, contrary to expectations, the discs - and the Nachtsalmler something should be too big for the Beck Dimensions, I can apply the same procedure as in the rays, ie return to my Aquaristikhändler in exchange for re-smaller copies. The demand this kind of fish species in the adult state is enormous, according to my dealer, as there are more and more owners of large aquariums.

After my L was 273 after 15 years sadly passed away, was in finding a worthy successor the choice on a 30 cm wide L 95. I had already often heard and read that adult L recycle 95 Wild during acclimatization Pobleme can, so it was with my newcomer. After insertion into the basin, he circled around a few laps, and then behind a hinterschwimmbaren BTN - disappearing module. Since then, he was not seen. After a period of about 5 weeks I had already given up hope of ever see him again alive. The more surprised I was when I looked at said five weeks to 95 L swim from his hiding place, not a bit thin and even without the notorious at L- catfishes sunken belly as a sign of a death row inmate, but well fed. He had probably at night everything had even vaguely formed during the day on the decoration and the discs of algae approach grazed. Since that night the L 95 is also during the day often from his hiding place in search of algae.

Once in the course of 5 years, the BTN - backplane modules showed an increasing and optically no longer appealing algae, I researched NaCN ways to effectively clean Aquariendeko the Internet - materials. In several Aquaristikforen I came across the tip "DanKlorix", a commercially available in almost all supermarkets all - purpose cleaners and hygiene.
After initially incredulous astonishment I informed myself more intensively on the main ingredient of this cleaner. It is sodium hypochlorite. This chemical compound has bleaching and strong germ-killing effect on where - and this is something special - after completion of biochemical reaction processes only the completely non-hazardous components [...]
